7X7 remix: Easily Create Outfits with a Seven Piece Capsule Wardrobe

I decided to take the 7×7 remix challenge hosted by Plane Pretty and others. Basically you choose 7 items and create seven different outfits.

Putting together seven outfits from just seven pieces of clothing or having only a seven piece capsule wardrobe sounds daunting, doesn’t it?!

Thankfully shoes and accessories did not count.

Shoes and accessories are a great way to make the same basic pieces look completely different.

Here are the seven items I chose:

1- Blue gingham shirt- Lauren/Ralph Lauren- thrifted (similar)
2- Jones New York striped/floral shirt- Amazon (option)
3- striped tshirt- Loft (similar)
4- Levi’s skinny jeans
5- Black dress pants
6- Cobalt blazer- Forever 21-(similar)
7- Green skirt- Limited (similar)

The easiest way to make sure your items work together is to pick a color palette. I chose blues and greens and two basic bottoms- black pants and jeans- for my 7 piece capsule.

Here are my seven outfits:

I managed to get work and casual outfits from these seven pieces.

Gingham top + solid green skirt

Striped tee+ jeans

Gingham top + jeans

Striped floral top + solid green skirt

See how the different shoes and an accessory like a scarf add a little pizazz to the outfits and keep them from being limited and plain.

Cobalt blazer+ solid green skirt + striped skirt

Striped floral shirt layered over gingham shirt + jeans

Cobalt blazer + striped floral shirt + black pants

Necklace- Groopdealz/ Apple of My Eye

Scarf- Old Navy; shoes- Target

Necklace- Sassy Steals

Shoes- Old Navy

Shoes- TJMaxx

Oh my! I can really tell how much weight I’ve lost looking at this last picture. It was taken last year when I first purchased this skirt. I had to have the skirt taken in recently!

Creating outfits from a seven piece capsule wardrobe can be a great exercise in learning how to create outfits. Sometimes less really is more!

When you are bored or uninspired with your closet and wardrobe, grab seven pieces and see what you come up with. This challenge is a great way to fall in love with your closet again.
