I’ve been updating my spring work wear. Many of my tops were beginning to get too tight in the chest or snug in the arms or have elastic in the sleeves, which I find uncomfortable on my upper arms. I’m sharing my recent Loft shopping haul with you today, as well as a few random pieces from other places.
My shopping criteria
When I shop for tops and blouses for work, I look for tops that balance professionalism with style. I also need for them to layer well under blazers.
All of the tops I’m sharing will do just that, and they look great on their own. Some of them can be dressed down with shorts or skirts for casual outfits too.
I tend to shop Loft for their curvy fit pants as well. I’m sharing the Riviera slim fit ankle pants in coral and white. Both colors are perfect for spring and summer. These pants fit well on my larger calves too. They don’t cling to them and fall nicely to the ankle.
For size reference, I’m wearing a small in tops and a 6 petite in pants/ curvy fit. I’m 5’2 and weigh 162.
Garden Tie Neck Top
This is a light pink 100% cotton top with a floral pattern in blues, olive and yellow. It will pair nicely with olive, navy, light blue or coral pants. The 100% cotton isn’t as dressy as some of the other tops, but it will be cooler for the summer. It will also work with shorts and jeans. The sleeves offer plenty of room for larger upper arms.
Smocked Ruffle Tie Neck Top
This top comes in a bright green that is super trendy again this spring. I plan to wear this with shorts in the summer and under blazers for the office. It’s a cotton/rayon blend with a lining. The ruffle sleeves are adorable.
Ruffle Tie Neck Top
This top is polyester in the front, rayon knit in the back. I promise I have more than just tie neck tops, but for some reason I’m drawn to them. The sleeves are comfortable and roomy.
Shirred Yolk Blouse
This bright blue is another trendy color for spring. 100% rayon with a lining. The same style blouse comes in a blue/green floral print.
For a bold look, pair it with the coral pants.
Floral ruffle mixed media shell
This top features a Henley button front and white flowers with a hint of pink and green. The same style comes in a few solid colors and a different floral pattern. It pairs perfectly with the white pants and cardigan.
Ribbed v neck cardigan
Perfect piece for work to weekend. Wear to the office with trousers and skirts, and wear it on the weekend with denim. V-Neck button front.
Banana Republic Factory Button Dolman Top
I purchased this in black and ivory as both staples needed replacing in my wardrobe. I love the easy relaxed style of this top. It comes in several colors. It’s so comfortable to wear.
A classic blouse is always a safe bet for the office.
Ann Taylor Suiting
I’v been on the hunt for a tan or light color suit this spring.
Herringbone Linen Blend Wide Leg pants
High rise with wide legs. Despite being a linen blend, it’s a thick material. It may be hot in the dead of summer, but cozy in a cold office or courtroom. Wearing 8P in these pants.
Double breasted blazer
I’m debating this ensemble as a double breasted blazer isn’t my favorite. It seems a little bottom heavy when worn open. Otherwise, this is a classy suit for spring and summer.
