Hello and Happy Friday! I’ve been enjoying the spring season, although the humidity and the temps keep creeping up around here. It’s not as bad as it will get, so I’ll take it and enjoy if for now.
Where I’ve Been Going/ Shopping
Last Friday I took my mama on a shopping trip. She is 81 and has lost a lot of weight over the past year. Nothing fits her anymore and she lives in a rural area with limited choices. She’s shorter than I am, maybe 5’1 or 5′ and needs petite length pants. Even those are sometimes too long. To add to the problem, she doesn’t have internet.
It frustrates me to no end that she would not learn to use the internet and a computer when she had one. Ordering things for her presents a problem because you need the internet for returns. And did I mention I live an hour and a half away?
I finally gave in and took her to our closest mall and town with options, almost two hours from her. (Are you doing the math- about 7 hours driving for me and then shopping in between?) Despite the long day and all the driving, spending time with her and styling her in some new outfits was a lot of fun.
I even took her for a new bra fitting at Soma because proper fit for everything starts with the basic foundation. While I was there I picked up some more of my favorite undies– no visible panty lines!
What I’ve Been Wearing
I wore this outfit on the shopping trip. This oversized flannel shirt that I shared in my recent shopping haul try on post has quickly become a favorite. It’s so soft but light enough for our temps.
Jeans- Loft; shirt- Old Navy; loafer mules- Amazon option
I’ve also been wearing this shirt (I bought it in two colors!) around the house because they are just that cozy and comfortable.
The only thing I purchased on the shopping trip besides undies was a couple of pair of pearl earrings from Belk. I can’t find the exact match to the hoops but these are similar. I also picked up this pair. I’ve been wearing my hoops every day since last week.
What I’ve Been Reading
It will soon be time for me to review what I read in March but I’ll go ahead and share my favorite book from last month.
The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave I listened to the audiobook on Scribd. It was well narrated. Hannah Hall’s husband disappears but manages to slip a note to his wife: “Protect her.” He is referring to his teenage daughter Bailey. The FBI arrest his boss and a U.S. Marshal and federal agents arrive at Hannah’s house.
Hannah and Bailey have not had the best relationship until now when they are forced together to figure out where their husband/dad has gone. This one is full of mystery and twists.
What We’ve Been Eating
The hubby and I have discovered a new favorite thing to eat- Cream of Rice. We follow a gluten free diet and the hubby is also allergic to corn so we haven’t had grits in years. This reminds us of grits when eaten plain with eggs. It’s also the best stuff to mix with fruit or chocolate chips and peanut butter.
Before you go, take a look at this week’s best sellers- are any of these your favorites?
