I’ve been busy refreshing my wardrobe with spring pieces. I reached a point last fall where I felt like my wardrobe had become a bit dated, particularly in my work wear. I struggled with style in fall and in winter I made a bit of a style shift to outfits that were more minimal and “old money” style. I want to carry some of that with me into spring, but with some soft pastels.
I’m here to share with you all the things I’ve ordered, kept and returned from my spring shopping haul. This post includes pieces from a variety of retailers- BRFactory, Gap, Gap Factory, Nordstrom, Quince, Loft, Old Navy and Amazon, and a couple of others mixed in. For sizing reference I’m 5’2″, 152 pounds and wear a range of small to medium, 8 bottoms, sometimes petite and sometimes not. I’ll try to keep this grouped by retailers but there are some things mixed together for try on/ outfit puposes.
Nordstrom
Wit and Wisdom Pull on Trouser Pants

Several years ago blush pink was trending for spring and I had a pair of blush pink pants. I found them to be pretty versatile, so I knew I had to have a pair this go around. I’m a fan of Wit and Wisdom and the fit. The bonus for me with these pants are that in spite of being pull on, they have belt loops! Wearing these in a medium.
The Mary Jane sling backs are new too, and they are so comfortable.
Cropped Tweed Blazer + Wit and Wisdom Pants

Choker necklace- Amazon
I also wanted a blush pink blazer. This process was a little trial and error. I look best in cool tones, but many blush pinks are warm with coral tones to them. I ordered a couple of tweed blazers from Amazon, and landed with this one as it is the shade of pink I’m looking for. This one is lightweight as well so I will get a little more wear from it. This one was too warm of a shade for me and a bit heavier fabric.
Wit and Wisdom Relaxed Waist Wide Leg Pants
These pants are also great pants, but I ultimately returned them and kept a sage green pair I ordered from Gap Factory. Wearing these in an 8 petite. I was tempted to keep these. Like the pink ones, they have a double seam down the sides, which I think is a classy touch. I think for me it came down to price and I was able to get the Gap Factory pants for less.
Taharia ASL Bird Eye Straight Leg Pants

I wanted to update my white/off white pants for spring and summer. I ultimately decide to return these pants because I’m in between sizes for them, but if you want a pair of straight leg dress pants with no pleats, great coverage (not see through) and need them in petites, these are your pants. The white isn’t bright white and leans more to off-white/cream. Wearing in 8p.
Wearing it with the Banana Republic Merino Wool Sweater Shell in afternoon latte. I ordered this top in this camel color and in white. I immediately decided to return the white one because it just didn’t look right but held on to this one for a bit. This color could have worked for me all the way through fall, but I ultimately decided it didn’t work for me. I don’t like how it drapes on me. I think it’s my short torso but I couldn’t quite put my finger on why I didn’t like this.
Banana Republic Factory
Striped linen blend popover top

This relaxed top is very cute worn untucked. I love the spring and summer vibes, but ultimately returned it because it’s too similar to other tops in my closet. It also comes in three solid colors. Wearing a small. It would be a great top for slimming a tummy with the vertical striped and structured material. (You don’t want materials that cling if you are trying to conceal a tummy.)
Banana Republic Midrise Boot Cut Jeans
If you miss your classic jeans in a mid-rise because high rise doesn’t suit you, these are the jeans for you. The classic boot cut is always in style. I ended up returning these because the back rise wasn’t quite high enough for me to be comfortable sitting or squatting in these jeans, but if you have less in the back, and want a classic jean, give these a try.
Target Universal Threads boat shoes
These are the most comfortable shoes! They have a memory foam insole and are very soft inside but supportive. These have become my go to shoe.
Ribbed Polo Sweater
This sharp looking polo sweater comes in three versions, including a solid yellow (trending color). I’m wearing a medium. While I had no issue with this sweater, I ultimatley returned it. I probably have too many striped tops as it is.

Wide-leg High-Rise Cropped Jean
These ended up being a winner for me. Although, they are a little longer on me, they are still cropped enough. They are not see through and are made of a soft material with a bit of stretch. Wearing a 29. These come in a few color options and washes.
Gap Factory
Gap Relaxed Fleece V-neck Sweatshirt

I love the subtle difference a v-neck makes on a sweatshirt. This one is warm and cozy and only slightly oversized so it’s perfect for wearing with wide leg jeans and pants. Wearing a small.
Easy Crepe Trousers

Love the soft green of these trousers. The color is vintage palm green. It works great with a pastel color palette. These have an elastic waist in the back for comfort. Wearing 8P.
Pairing them here with:
Loft Chiffon Ruffle Top
This is such a pretty blouse. Unfortunately, it was too big in the body and looked frumpy on me. I loved the color and print, but not the fit.
Amazon dusty rose blazer
I have another one of these blazers in a camel color and I’m highly impressed with the quality. I love that the button is the same color as the blazer. Sometimes the gold or silver buttons on blazers make them look cheap.
Journee Sling Back Flats
I have been on the hunt for quite some time (1-2 years) for a replacement for my cognac flats. These sling back flats are on trend and go well with many of these new pieces.
Amazon Chunky Chain Heart Necklace
This was a fun edition to my accessories. These chunky charm type necklaces have been trending for a while so I snagged this one during the Amazon Big Spring sale.
Denim Puff Sleeve Top

This is a cute take on a denim top with elbow length puff sleeves. There is very little stretch to this material. I do not like the elastic around my arms, so I returned this one.
High Rise Ponte Kick Crop Pants

Necklace- Loft
I have only ever had one other pair of ponte pants and have only had kick crop jeans. This is a fabulous combination for spring pants. The pants are soft and stretchy and the kick crop takes it up a notch from regular pants. Wearing an 8p.
Cash Soft Short Sleeve Baby Tee
A cotton/nylon sweater tee that feels like cashmere. Comes in several colors and makes a great spring staple. I ordered this in a medium petite that was too large, and also tried a XS (regular) as I was trying to get this in yellow as well. The regular small in this pink turned out to be the best fit.
Old Navy
Taylor Fitted Suit Blazer

Necklace- Loft; pants- GapFactory; shoes- DSW
I have the matching trousers in silver gray (this color, but it looks more like a cool cream/ off white). I wear the pants ALL the time so it seemd only fitting to get the matching blazer.
Wearing with:
Kohl’s Lauren Conrad tie front top
This piece will mix right in with the other pieces I’ve purchased- the pink pants, yellow blazer, and more. It’s also cute on its own, unlike the Loft tops that I didn’t have success with.
So Soft Lite V-Neck Sweater

Blazer- Amazon; Pants- Amazon; loafers- Amazon
I ended up getting this v-neck sweater as my yellow top/sweater for my spring capsule after the Gap sweater tee didn’t work out.
Striped Cropped Button Up

Jeans- Old Navy; shoes- Target; purse- Amazon
I don’t know why I didn’t get a cropped button up before. I had them on my radar as soon as they came out, but kept putting it off. They look so much more polished worn loose than a longer button up shirt.
Loft
Garden Bubble Sleeve Mixed Media Top

This is one of those tops with a knit back and polyester front. I had high hopes for this print but it looked so frumpy on me without the blazer. I want to be able to wear a top on its own so this one had to go back. It was just too boxy and the print was probably too large of a print for me anyway. The color is perfect for spring.
Wearing with:
Quince Wide Leg Crepe Pants
These went on sale last month so I purchased a pair in olive and morel grey, which is more of a light taupe. Olive pants have been missing from my wardrobe for a while.
Cicy Bell Cropped Tweed Blazer
The blazer is an Amazon purchase and I love the pastel yellow.
Cheetah Print Tie Back Bubble Hem Top

Pants- Gap; necklace- Amazon; shoes- Nordstrom
This top was the winner from my Loft order. The bubble hem and tie back are such fun touches. Wearing it here with a cardigan, but it will be fun to wear on its own on warmer days.
Amazon Essentials Cardigan
I wanted a more refined, polished softer cardigan than the chunky black cardigan I have. This one fit the bill and I was able to get it on sale.
Abercrombie and Fitch
I’ve been slowly adding pieces to my wardrobe from this retailer. While it may appear that they serve a younger crowd, there are many age-appropriate items for more mature women.
Boucle Mockneck Sweater Tee

This one is so soft and cozy. It works with dress pants or jeans, making it a versatile piece. It’s on the warmer side, making it a spring only item for me, but I can probably style it again in the fall.
Collarless Suiting Blazer

Necklace- Amazon
I love this fresh take on a blazer. The collarless design is so chic. This one is on the thick/heavy side and will be another spring only item for me. It will be too hot in the summer for it.
Madeline Textural Crew Sweater Tee
(Not pictured) Soft and versatile. This one goes with trousers and jeans alike. I’d say it runs large, as I exchanged it for an extra small.
Short Sleeve Cardigan

Pants- Amazon
Another simple, elegant piece that can be worn casually or dressy. Short sleeve cardigans and blazers/ jackets are trending for spring and summer.
AF High V-neck Sweater Vest

The contrast piping got me! Such a chic piece to pair with trousers, jeans, shorts or skirts. Wear it alone or under another layer.
Not pictured: I also purchased the essential polished relaxed tee in black and white, as my striped tee needed replacing, and I purchased the cream low rise tailored wide leg pant. I needed to upgrade my white pants and these are different enough from my other cream trousers to be worn as a white pant.
I also purchased a few more pieces from Amazon, but I’ll save those for my Amazon Prime Purchases round up post. This was quite a haul, but it you have followed me for any length of time, you know I wear, re-wear and remix my clothing for several years. I wear many pieces into the ground, lol. It was time to update all of the skinny, slim pants and fitted blazers.
