Today we are discussing shoe trends for spring 2025. Why should you care about spring shoe trends? For starters, choosing the right shoe to complete an outfit may seem like a minor detail, but it can actually make a significant impact on your overall look. Whether you’re heading to a formal event or just running errands, the shoes you wear can either elevate your outfit or detract from it. From adding a pop of color to complementing the style and silhouette of your clothing, selecting the perfect shoe is key to achieving a polished and put-together ensemble.
Choosing an on trend shoe is a great way to keep your style modern and fresh. An on trend shoe will keep your classic clothing pieces looking fresh. So let’s explore some fresh new spring shoes trends for 2025.
2025 Spring Shoe Trends
Boat shoes
I’m not starting in any particular order, but boat shoes are probably the newest trend in shoes on the scene. Who remembers these? Boat shoes were popular in the 80s and early 2000s, and they are back around again. If you love preppy style you may be happy to see these again.
If you don’t like the traditional style, you might like these that have a more feminine twist to them. They even come in trending blush pink.

Mesh flats
Another one of the hottest trends carried over from last spring is the mesh ballet flat and mary jane. Mesh flats are breathable and versatile. So many of them have dainty feminine and romantic embellishments, or embroidery, making them appealing to several style personalities at once. Sheer or mesh sling backs and kitten heels are a thing too. This might be the season that I add a pair or two to my closet.
Metallic shoes
Shine is the new black. Metallics continue to trend, especially in shoes. The most popular metallic this spring is silver, but you can be on trend with gold or champange. Metallic shoes bring a touch of modern sophistication and fun.
Ankle straps
Ankle strap shoes are a timeless footwear style that effortlessly blends elegance with stability. Characterized by a strap that wraps around the ankle and fastens with a buckle, snap, or tie, these shoes offer both aesthetic appeal and practical support. Available in a variety of designs—from delicate heels and sleek flats to chic sandals—ankle strap shoes add a touch of sophistication to any outfit.
Blue shoes
Powder blue is a trending color this season, and it’s making its way into shoes. You can find dressy options and sneakers in this soft shade for spring.
Platform shoes
Platform shoes are a bold and stylish footwear choice known for their thick, elevated soles that add height without the steep incline of traditional heels. The defining feature of platform shoes is the raised sole that extends across the entire bottom of the shoe, providing extra cushioning and stability. Some say these are on their way out and some say they are in. Super thick platforms are not the most trending but refined platforms sandals can still have a place in your closet.
Pointed toe shoes/ kitten heels
I’m lumping together pointed toe shoes and kitten heels. Both of these shoe styles are still trending. You can go for a two-for-one with a pointed to kitten heel, but if a heel isn’ t your thing, there are lots of pointed to flats. Pointed toe shoes work well with the wide leg pants and jeans that continue to trend. Sling back flats and heels are both still popular.
T-strap shoes
A T-strap shoe is a classic footwear style characterized by a strap that runs vertically up the center of the foot, connecting to a horizontal strap that wraps around the ankle or across the instep, forming a “T” shape. T-strap shoes come in various styles, including heels, flats, and sandals, and are often associated with vintage or retro fashion, particularly from the 1920s and 1930s. There is some talk that they are coming back. I think this one remains to be seen, as I’m not seeing a lot of options for these in the new releases yet.
Suede
Suede jackets, handbags and shoes have been hot for fall, and suede shoes are not disappearing for spring. It has taken me a while to embrace suede for warmer weather, but why not? Suede accents on sneakers or suede sneakers will be trending too.
Clogs
Clogs are not standing out to me as the most spring-worthy shoe, but depending on where you live they could be an option for spring when the weather is unpredictable. They are making the list almost everywhere I have researched, so if you love clogs, embrace them and be on trend for spring.
Sneakers
You can’t go wrong with a sneaker. Low profile sneakers, gum sole sneakers, and retro sneakers are all trending this year. Colorful sneakers will be a big deal too.
Low profile sneakers are all about slim silhouettes, with low profiles that stay below the ankle and hug the foot. Although the silhouette is quite simple, the trend is brought to life through fun design elements like pops of color, mixed materials, gum buttoms, and more. Wear them with denim, trousers, dresses or skirts.
“Another fashion trend for spring 2025: retro sneakers. From Y2K-inspired “dad sneakers to classic retro kicks with sleek features, it’s time to throw it back in throwback styles. New Balance is a great brand to try if you like the chunky look, while PUMA is a fan favorite for slimmer vintage sneaks. No matter which retro sneaker style you prefer, one thing’s for certain: this spring shoe trend is the coolest (and comfiest) of them all so add it to your rotation ASAP.”- DSW
Animal print
All types of animal prints will be trending this spring and they will be making a big showing on shoes. Python or snakeskin is back in a big way!
