Hi and welcome to another edition of What I Wore Lately. I was on vacation for a week so this one is a mixed bag of outfits. It seems odd to share some of my outfits at this time of year because it’s still so hot for us. There are those who find it foreign to wear shorts in October, but that’s our reality. If you live in the South, you understand. These are what I ‘ve really worn to work and off duty so it’s real life. My goal is to provide you with some outfit inspiration by sharing these.
Use these looks for outfit inspiration and not necessarily to wear the exact outfits. Be inspired by colors, patterns and textures, and don’t think you have to use the exact pieces to recreate them.
We’ll start with the office outfits. There are only three because I spent two days in field attire during one work week and I was off work the other week.
Black Pants + Black Cami+ Beige Blazer + leopard loafers
I love a column of black topped by another neutral. Use this outfit inspiration to create an all-black outfit with a black sweater or tee and top it with a camel cardigan or blazer instead of beige. Sub black jeans if your work allows, and sub leopard boots when it’s too cold for loafers.
Black Blazer + Khaki Sweater + Olive pants+ loafer mules
When it’s a transitional time, or just too hot for fall clothing, you will likely find me in neutral outfits. Use a lightweight sweater like this one in khaki or camel for early fall and wear this same outfit again in the winter with a camel sweater. I’m also wearing these shoes on repeat because I like them a lot.
Plaid blazer + white or ivory top + navy pants + cognac shoes
Blazers are easy to buy from thrift sites. Once you know your fit in a brand, it’s easy to shop for them and they seem to be plentiful on thrift site. This blazer came from Thred Up. A grey plaid blazer has been on my wish list for a couple of years, so I finally purchased one.
Casual Outfit Inspiration
We went on a four-night camping trip last week. It was still warm during the day. The temps ranged from 60- 80s. It was shorts weather, but you can substitute jeans, leggings or joggers for cooler climates.
Graphic tee + khaki shorts+ chambray shirt + faux suede sneakers
I wore this cute fall tee with khaki shorts on the first day of our trip. I layered a chambray shirt over the tee in case I needed the sleeves later in the day. The faux suede sneakers gave this outfit a bit of a fall vibe.
Camping Day 2/hiking
Plaid shirt + tank top+ denim shorts + sneakers
Cool mornings and warm evenings call for layers like plaid shirts and tank tops. We went on a hike during the afternoon. I got a little warm in the shirt but could have taken it off and tied it around my waist. These slip-on sneakers are super comfortable and even survived the hike we took.
Camping Day 3
Striped tee+ denim shorts + sneakers + hoodie
We camped at two different locations, so this was another travel/set up day outfit. The hoodie was nice during the cool part of the morning, but came off later in the day. I didn’t take actual outfit pics as we were too busy with the take down/travel/set up so I created the collage for you.
Camping Day 4
I got in a quick workout that morning with my resistance bands and kept my workout clothes on for another day of hiking. Again, no pics.
All of these are the exact pieces, except for the sneakers.
Casual Sunday outfit
Flannel shirt + jeans + sandals
The weather cooled off a bit after we returned home, and was just right for a lightweight flannel and jeans. I was working on things around the house, so I stayed in sandals when I wore shoes.
