9 to 5 Style in Black and White

Black and white- adjective-1. lacking in bright colors; monochromatic image 2. Of utmost clarity; clearly defined.

Let’s add a third definition- classic fashion combination.

You can’t go wrong with a black and white ensemble, unless you end up looking like a waiter or stewardess when you didn’t want to. But it’s still hard to go wrong with this combo in the right pieces. It will always be classic.

I chose black and white as our theme for 9 to 5 Style this month.

Welcome to 9 to 5 Style! The third  Monday of every month Jennie of A Pocketful of Polka Dots and I will showcase a theme featuring our individual takes on a professional look. Our aim is to inspire and show professional style does not have to mean boring and without personality. We hope you enjoy our 9 to 5 Style!

I paired a white blazer with my go to black pants and a snow leopard print top. The top also has a bit of grey which is an intermediate of black and white.

I cheated a little and added a pop of color with the shoes. But that’s the beauty of this color scheme- you can pick any color of the rainbow for shoes or accessories and it will work.

Four years ago, I did a whole week of black and white outfits. I actually wore nothing but this combo for a whole week and no one seemed to even notice. If you truly want a minimal wardrobe, or you don’t want to think about coordinating colors, buy multiple pieces in black and white and mix and match to your heart’s desire. You will still look chic and always be in style.
