9 to 5 Style- Mustard Sweater

Welcome to 9 to 5 Style! The third  Monday of every month Jennie of A Pocketful of Polka Dots and I will showcase a theme featuring our individual takes on a professional look. Our aim is to inspire and show professional style does not have to mean boring and without personality. We hope you enjoy our 9 to 5 Style!

This month Jennie chose mustard for our theme. It’s been a popular color for fall year after year. We even saw it have some attention in the spring and summer this year. This was the perfect prompt for me as I recently purchased this sweet little sweater from JCrew. I’m usually more of a JCrew Factory shopper, but this little number was on sale and I couldn’t resist.

I styled my sweater with grey glen plaid pants. Glen plaid is another popular fall trend and grey and mustard always pair well together.

I’m a firm believer that not every sweater is meant for the office, but this one is perfect for office attire. Bold stripes, thick oversized chunky sweaters and fair isles are better left to the weekend. Finer knit sweaters are better suited for the office and for wearing under blazers.

You know I’d normally be wearing a blazer with my office outfit, but the scallops and pointelle detail are too cute to hide on this mustard sweater. I probably will wear it later with a black or grey blazer, but I just had to show you the sweet details this time.

Sweater- JCrew; pants- JCPenney (old); option; option; pumps- Nordstrom; similar; bag- Nine West/Belk; necklace- Kendra Scott; earrings- Kendra Scott

I finished off this look with black pumps and my favorite Kendra Scott earrings and a long pendant.

It’s just pants and a sweater but the fun details on the sweater make it so much more.
