I find red, white and blue to be a timeless combination for work wear. Even though it’s a combination most prevalent in summer time, it really works year round. The color combination lends itself well to classic work wear.
Here in the U.S. it’s quite common to dress for patriotic holidays like Memorial Day and Fourth of July. Red, white and blue can also be used to create nautical looks, but for work wear it can be a timeless combination that works any time of the year.
I’ve been on a self imposed challenge to wear my skirts more lately, so I grabbed this navy and white pencil skirt from my closet recently. (Yes, literally grabbed, because if I haven’t planned an outfit the night before, I have only a few minutes in the mornings to make a decision and get dressed. I am so not a morning person.).
I knew this pencil skirt would pair nicely with my new blazer, and red quickly came to mind as the third piece of the puzzle.

Not only is the color scheme a timeless combination, but the pieces themselves are also classic and timeless. A blazer and pencil skirt will forever be a timeless combination for classic work wear, so stock your closet with these items if you need to build a professional wardrobe.
A shell top is another classic for work wear and will always be so, no matter if you go with a plain or pleated one. A pencil skirt can also be worn outside of work, so you can double your investment with one. I’ve paired this skirt with a denim jacket for a more casual vibe before.
