Welcome to 9 to 5 Style! The third Monday of every month Jennie of A Pocketful of Polka Dots and I will showcase a theme featuring our individual takes on a professional look. Our aim is to inspire and show professional style does not have to mean boring and without personality. We hope you enjoy our 9 to 5 Style!
Jennie chose pattern mixing for our 9 to 5 Style theme this month. Pattern mixing for the office can be a little tricky when you work in a conservative office. It’s much easier when you work in a creative environment. I usually keep pattern mixing subtle for the office, but I went a little bolder this time with stripes and leopard print.
This totally works for the office because the color scheme is cohesive and it’s mainly black. A cohesive color scheme is always important with pattern mixing but if you are going to the office, I suggest picking a classic or neutral color rather than bright colors.
The black blazer and pumps really help to ground this outfit. I probably should have added black tights or hosiery, but I don’t like tights with these pumps and I really don’t wear pantyhose anymore. It was mild enough for bare legs when I put this look together.

I kept this look classic with the faux pearls and bead necklace and simple gold earrings. While pattern mixing for the office can be tricky, it’s easily accomplished with classic, polished pieces.
Are you getting ready for Thanksgiving? Black Friday? I’ve already been doing too much shopping because the deals that are already available are too good. I did get a start on some Christmas shopping this weekend. but I’m ready to take a break and enjoy the turkey and the family.
