Spring time brings expectations of clear, blue skies, so it’s no surprise that the Pantone Colors for Spring/Summer 2021 include a couple of shades of blue. Along with pinks, I’m often drawn to blues in the spring, so I’m definitely not complaining. Cerulean is your softer pastel blue while French Blue is the brighter, more vivid blue. There is no reason to be intimidated by its boldness. Keep reading for classy ways to wear these spring colors.
Who can wear french blue and cerulean?
Winters (blue-ish or pinkish cool undertone, and hair that is dark or ashy without golden or red highlights) and summers ( those with pink, rose, and blue skin undertones, and gray, brown, or blonde hair) look good in these colors, but some spring seasons can wear shades of cerulean. Anyone can wear these colors in their shoes and bottom half.
Ways to Wear These Trending Blues
A utility jacket is a must have spring item. It’s cool in the morning and evenings and a jacket is an essential layer for adjusting to the changing temperatures of spring. Jump on the color trend by wearing a utility jacket in a non traditional color like French blue. Pair it with a member of blue’s triad- yellow for a cheery outfit. If you want more cool, relaxing vibes, go with a solid white tee.
Wear this vivid color on the bottom.
If you don’t mind bring attention to the bottom half, wear this vivid color in pants, paired with a top that has a hint of a similar shade. This is a fun spring outfit that can be dressed up or down. Choose a dressy closed toe flat if sandals are not appropriate for your activity.
Go monochromatic and pair cerulean with navy.
This pairing of light and dark blue creates a sophisticated outfit.
Wear it as part of a print.
As we noted with raspberry sorbet, you can break up a color by wearing it in a print.
Wear trendy colors in small doses in your accessories.
A scarf is a great way to bring in a trendy color. If you don’t want to wear it around your neck, tie it to your purse. If I were going to do that, I’d replace the bag below with a tan or beige bag.
